I obtained my PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the UPV/EHU in 2011. After a time in a Food Analysis company and a postdoc in the University of Leiden I took up my teaching activities at the UPV/EHU in 2015 at Science and Technology Faculty. Since 2021 I teach at Fine Arts Faculty.

My research is focused on cultural heritage, especially on the deterioration of contemporary paintings (https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6495-1815). I have published more than 25 JCR papers, I have taken part in 20 R&D projects and I have supervised three doctoral thesis.

Furthermore, I have an active science outreach activity focused on the connection between Science and Art. I collaborate with written media and several radio stations. In 2020 I published the book entitled "Por qué los girasoles se marchitan".
