He holds a degree and a doctorate in Economics and Business Studies from the University of the Basque Country. He is currently a full professor in the Faculty of Economics and Business at this university. He teaches subject in the Financial Economics and Accounting area at undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels.
He has four six-year periods of accredited research experience, three in research and one in knowledge transfer.
As a director, he has supervised six doctoral theses, three of which received international recognition, with two receiving the UPV/EHU Special Doctorate Award and one receiving the 2015 Award from the Royal Academy of Doctors of Spain.
He is a member of the Academic Committee of the Doctorate Program in Business Management, Knowledge and Innovation and of the Master in Finance and Financial Management.
He is also the co-founder of the Chair of Family Business, created in 2007 in collaboration with the Provincial Goverment of Bizkaia, and is its Director since 2009.
He is a senior researcher in the Consolidated Research Group on Governance, Entrepreneurship and Family Business (Level A-Excellence, Basque Government). He is also a member of the "Knowledge Organization's Research Group at the University of Vigo.
His research areas include family business, corporate governance, entrepreneurial orientation, and corporate finance.
