The Central Analysis Service Bizkaia (SCAB) of the General Research Services (SGIker) of the UPV / EHU was launched in 2005. Since then provides a specialized response to chemical analysis to different research groups UPV/EHU in different branches of Health Sciences, Experimental Sciences, Engineering - Architecture and Arts - Humanities.

The SCAB offers the scientific community an instrumental state of the art infrastructure and differentiated technical scientific advice in the following sub-categories:

• Analysis of characterization and quantification of volatile organic compounds: Dr. Luis Bartolomé (luis.bartolome@ehu.eus / Ext. 3473).
• Analysis of characterization and quantification of non volatile organic compounds: Dr. Patricia Navarro (patricia.navarro@ehu.eus / Ext. 2722)..
•  Analysis directed and undirected of lipid (lipidomic) and natural products: Dr. Beatriz Abad (beatriz.abad@ehu.es / Ext. 3197).
•  Analysis of characterization and quantification of inorganic compounds: Dr. Juan Carlos Raposo (juancarlos.raposo@ehu.eus / Ext. 5443).

Also part of the SCAB:

• Analysis for identification of organic compounds: Dr. Maribel Collado (isabel.collado@ehu.eus / Ext. 5432).

During this period, we have implemented quality criteria for chemical analysis laboratories under the criteria of the ISO 9001 since 2010 and more specifically since 2013, under the criteria of ISO 17025. Al this makes many groups of research of the UPV/EHU, technology centers and private companies have chosen SCAB in the development of their research, completing more than 50,000 samples processed between 2005 and 2015.
