Isa Blumi holds a PhD in History and Middle Eastern/Islamic Studies from New York University (NYU-2005) and a Master of Political Science and Historical Studies (1995) from The New School for Social Research, New York. Isa joined Stockholm University in late 2015 after spending the previous 12 years teaching and researching at universities located in Germany, Belgium, Turkey, the USA, United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, and Albania/Kosovo. His work, especially on the intersections of indigenous resistance to imperialism and the ways in which states evolved in the modern era, is informed by his travels to Yemen-Horn of Africa, the South China Sea, and throughout Latin America since he was 14 years old.
