I am a conceptual and intellectual historian specialising in American history and politics. Over the past ten years, I have researched the development of US imperialist discourse through the concept of Manifest Destiny. I am currently researching the formation of a declinist tradition in American political culture and its implications for current declinist debates in the US. I currently work at Nebrija University and Complutense University of Madrid. Previously I have been a postdoctoral researcher at the University of the Basque Coutry and a visiting scholar at Cambridge University, Columbia University, the City University of New York, and the University of Oregon.
