He holds a PhD in Historical Studies from the Public History curriculum at the University of Florence in Italy, a History degree from the National University of Colombia, a master's degree in the History of Contemporary Wars from Jaume I University in Castellón, Spain, and a master’s degree in Comparative History from 1500 to the present from the Central European University, he was also a former research and visiting fellowships at the French School of Athens and the European University Institute.

His academic interests include military, intellectual, and public history. He has published on topics such as the Ottoman Empire, Middle Eastern history, and Late Antiquity, with a primary research focus on the Age of Revolutions.
