Ainara Saralegi (ORCID: 0000-0002-7583-9981) holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (2009) and a PhD in Renewable Materials Engineering (2013), awarded with the International Doctorate mention and the UPV/EHU Extraordinary Doctorate Award. She is currently a lecturer in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), based at the School of Engineering of Gipuzkoa. Her research experience includes predoctoral stays (Adolphe Merkle Institute, Switzerland) and postdoctoral appointments (Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, Portugal; and Virginia Tech, USA). In teaching, she lectures on Materials Science and Engineering at undergraduate and master’s levels, applying active learning and problem-based methodologies.



Her research activity is carried out within the GMT (Materials + Technologies) research group and focuses on the development and recyclability of sustainable polymeric materials, particularly polyurethanes based on dynamic covalent chemistry and functional coatings. She has published scientific articles in high-impact journals, presented work at national and international conferences, and collaborated in numerous research projects.
