Elena Castroviejo is an Ikerbasque Research Fellow with the Hizkuntzalaritza Teorikorako Taldea (HiTT) and a visiting professor at the Dpt. of Linguistics and Basque Studies (UPV/EHU).

She is interested in formal semantics and its interfaces with syntax, morphology and pragmatics, from a cross-linguistic and experimental perspective. She has recently developed a growing interest in the study of the linguistic abilities of the population on the Autism Spectrum.

She has had international exposure as a postdoctoral researcher at the U. Frankfurt (2007-2009) and the U. of Chicago (2009-2010). In January 2011 she started a Ramón y Cajal contract with the ILLA-CSIC (Spanish National Research Council), and in 2015 she joined Ikerbasque.

Since her PhD (2006), she has published in major international journals, such as Language, Lingua, Natural Language & Linguistic Theory, The Linguistic Review, Journal of Linguistics and Journal of Pragmatics, and has presented her research in highly competitive conferences in formal semantics, generative grammar and Romance linguistics.

Although she has a research profile, she participates in the Master in Theoretical and Experimental Linguistics (UPV/EHU), where she teaches the Advanced Course in Semantics and Pragmatics.
