University Professor, Department of Graphic Design and Engineering Projects, University of the Basque Country, (2000). Doctor in Industrial Engineering, (1990). Master's Degree in Industrial Design and Product Development from the DZ Industrial Design Centre under the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, (1992).
Member of the Advisory Board of the journal ‘Anales de Ingeniería Gráfica’; member of the Steering Committee of the Spanish Association of Graphic Engineering INGEGRAF; member of the Scientific Committee of the Spanish Association of Graphic Engineering, in different periods. Responsible for the WG6 Working Group for standardization, dependent on AENOR for several years. Secretary and Director of the Department of Graphic Design and Engineering Projects of the UPV-EHU, in different periods.
Member of the research team of the Product Design Laboratory (http://www.ehu.eus/PDL) since its foundation. He is currently working on three lines of research at the PDL:
• Analysis of techniques for the generation of parametric CAD models built from a mesh of points obtained by scanning the object (retro-conception or reverse engineering).
• Automation of the verification of geometric tolerances (GD&T) using non-contact techniques.
• Development of new methodologies in digital workflow in dentistry through reverse engineering.
He has directed eight doctoral theses and has been a researcher in numerous R&D projects.
