Master in Industrial Engineering (1997) and PhD (2012) of the Bilbao Engineering School. Lecturer in same university since 2004 in part time and in full time since 2013. From 1998 to 2008 he was manager of the technical department in a company providing service for diesel engines for marine applications. In 2008 started work in a marine research institute in research areas of energy efficiency in ships and use of alternative fuel in internal combustion engines.
In 2012 presented his thesis in Thermal Engineering in the Engineering School in Bilbao being the thesis fully developed in Basque language.
He is lecturer in the UPV/EHU since 2004 when he shared his work as lecturer with the work in the marine diesel engine company and the marine research institute up to 2013, when he started working as full time lecturer in the UPV/EHU. He has participated in publication of 9 scientific indexed articles and tutorized one PhD Thesis, being director also of many Bachelor and Master Degree thesis.
Nowadays his research work is focused in the areas of energy efficiency on board ships and condition based maintenance techniques together with the use of alternative fuels in internal combustion engines.
