OLATZ PAMPLIEGA ORMAETXEA

After getting her Bachelors in Biology (Health Biology specialty) from the Autonomous Unversity of Barcelona, Olatz Pampliega got her PhD in the Neuroscience Department of the UPV/EHU under the supervision of Maria Domercq and Carlos Matute. She pursued her postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Ana María Cuervo at Albert Einstein College of Medicine (NY, USA; 2010-2014). After, she worked at the Institute of Neurodegenerative Diseases (IMN) of the University of Bordeaux (2015-2018). Since 2018, she is a young Group Leader at Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience and the Neuroscience Department of the UPV/EHU under the “Ramón y Cajal” program (MICIU).



Dr. Olatz Pampliega investigates the role of cilia mediated autophagy in neurons and astrocytes under pathological conditions, such as amyloid beta overload. She has been awarded 2 competitive grants as principal investigator and received start-up funding from IBRO and IdEx Bordeaux. In addition, she participates as evaluator in the National Research Agency (AEI) of Spain and the European Commission.
