GAIA Electronics Committee Boosts Microelectronics Sector Activity in the Basque Country

GAIA Electronics Committee addressed strategic issues such as the renewal of its Board of Directors, the study on electronics in the Basque Country, the SoC4Sensing Chair, and the promotion of an investment fund for the sector. In addition, new cybersecurity regulations, the data ecosystem, and participation in relevant events were discussed. The day ended with a visit to the UPV-EHU's Aula Chip, reinforcing the commitment to innovation and social challenges.

The event began marking the start of a key day for the technological ecosystem of the Basque Country.

One of the central points was the presentation of the Study of Electronics in the Basque Country, prepared by IKEI and GAIA, providing a detailed overview of the current state and prospects of the sector.

Next, the SoC4Sensing Chair of the UPV-EHU was presented, focusing on developing advanced technologies for intelligent sensing. The initiative of an Investment Fund was also presented, highlighting the support for the stock market exit of companies in the sector.

In the field of digitalization, the Data Ecosystem was discussed, emphasizing its call and the characterization of the sector. In addition, the new cybersecurity regulations (NIS2 and CRA) and the support available from GAIA and CYBASQUE were reviewed.

Finally, key events were mentioned, such as participation in the BeDigital fair (June 3-5) and support for the ICT degrees of the Bilbao School of Engineering, reinforcing dual training.

The event concluded with a visit to UPV-EHU's Aula Chip, where social challenges and the importance of technological innovation in the region were discussed.
