Project start: 01/01/2020

Brief description:

The main objective of the project is to train and educate those who are committed to the sustainable development of the blue economy on the Basque-Aquitaine coast.

Its nucleus is the development of an interuniversity itinerary of intensive training and an employability plan in ‘blue skills’. Both are aimed at promoting employability, entrepreneurship and innovation with high added value for the cross-border employment zone linked to the blue economy.

It includes communication and awareness-raising actions that will bring schoolchildren and citizens closer to the real challenges and professional opportunities of the cross-border blue economy.

Through its ‘civic university’ approach, Ocean i3 promotes genuine collaboration with cross-border territorial agents.

The following will be the main results:

  • blue skills and university graduation profiles jointly identified with territorial agents.
  • professional cross-border mobility
  • awareness-raising actions on professional advice and challenges of the territory's blue economy
  • information transferable to the cross-border portal EMPLEO-AE (internship bank, blue skills, etc.)

Ocean i3 is part of the priority actions of the Bordeaux-Euskampus Campus, a strategic alliance for the cross-border knowledge society between the University of Bordeaux and the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea. One of its 4 challenges is Education and employability.

The Ocean i3 Project, (ikerketa+ ikaskuntza + iraunkortasuna / research+learning+sustainability) is part of the Ocean Experiences Campus created in 2015 at the request of Basque-Aquitaine economic and social agents. The Ocean Campus is committed to mobilising the set of university capacities in training, research and transfer with a view to the recovery and sustainability of the oceans in coordination with territorial, regional and internationalisation strategies
