Short biography
Nagore González Soto (postdoc, Basque Government Grant), BSc in Biology (2016), PhD in Environmental Pollution and Toxicology from the EHU (2022). Her research focused in the toxicity of emerging particulate pollutants in combination with classic pollutants in the marine environment. Since 2022, she has been focused on the toxicity of environmentally relevant micro- and nanoplastics, particularly in the Bay of Biscay. She has been a member of “Cell Biology in Environmental Toxicology” and Marine Station of Plentzia PiE since 2018. From February 2023 to March 2025, she was at the University of Bordeaux expanding her knowledge of the identification of plastic polymers in samples collected from the marine environment and methodologies for their fragmentation into micro- and nanoplastics and texting them in fish cell lines and embryos. Currently, she is at the Plentzia Marine Station (PiE-EHU) testing the toxicity of these microplastic cocktails produced with plastics collected from the beaches of the southeastern Bay of Biscay in a battery of microalgae and invertebrates at different trophic levels within the FIERA project of the Spanish Ministry. Currently she is part of projects FIERA, MIKRONANORISK, PLASFITO, FluoBioplast, ENSURE2, the AquEus LTC Laboratory for Transborder Cooperation and the ENLIGHT thematic network PLASTIMPACT.
