Death: Pello Huizi (1942-2023)

First publication date: 03/04/2023

Pello Huizi, ILCLI Emeritus Honorary Fellow and retired lecturer of Psychology at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), died last Thursday, March 30.

He left his home town when he was barely 10 years old, when he was sent to the sanctuary of Arantzazu, to be educated as, and eventually become, a Franciscan friar.

B.A. in Philosophy, Theology and Psychology, and Ph.D. in Psychology, Huizi was a member of the Institute since its foundation. He contributed very much to the Institute, and to the journal GOGOA, both writing articles and book reviews (on psychology of language and reasoning, mainly), and as a member of its editorial board. He was a quiet, kind and humble person, and his work was always thorough.

As a lecturer of Psychology, he taught psychology to many generations of psychologists, philosophers and pedagogues of the Basque Country. Among others, his co-edition of the first dictionary of psychology in Basque, Psikologia. Hiztegia (UZEI 1980), is very well-known.

His last article in GOGOA was:
