Aitor Villate, got his Bachelor’s in Chemistry in 2018 in the Faculty of Science and Technology from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). After obtaining his Master in Food Quality and Safety in the Faculty of Pharmacy from the UPV/EHU, he started the PhD thesis (March 2020). His thesis, supervised by Aresatz Usobiga and Maitane Olivares, is focused on the consumption of cannabinoids for therapeutic purposes from two independent research lines. On one hand, he has worked in the development of formulations to allow the oral consumption of cannabinoids in order to offer products that allow an easy, safe dosage, with a controlled release in the gastrointestinal tract. On the other hand, he has worked in the development of analytical methods to analyze endocannabinoids and related metabolites in several biological fluids such as plasma and follicular fluid in order to evaluate the relationship between cannabis abuse and the development of schizophrenia.
