Senior Research Scientist in the Organic Chemistry Department I. She obtained her B.S. (1989) and PhD (1994) degrees in Chemistry from the Autonoma University of Madrid. After two postdoctoral stays at Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in USA, she returned to San Sebastián in 1999. In 2001 she was awarded a Ramón y Cajal contract and obtained a permanent position in 2012. Her teaching activity comprises several subjects in the Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry (Organic Chemistry II) and in the Synthetic and Industrial Chemistry Master's Degree (Bio-Organic and Supramolecular Chemistry). She has co-supervised 6 Doctoral Thesis and 5 Master Projects and has 4 six year-periods of recognized research activity. She is a member of the Asymmetric Catalysis and Chemical Synthesis research group (https://www.ehu.eus/es/web/gicas/aurkezpena) and her research activity focusses on the development of organocatalytic procedures leading to the stereoselective formation of carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bonds with special emphasis on the design of direct transformations for their application in the resolution of synthetic problems.
