This course is about languages in education and it is multilingual. The course is taught in English but students can use other languages as well. The teacher will speak English and the materials are in English but Basque and Spanish can also be used to ask questions or to make comments. Students can use Basque,Spanish and English when they complete their tasks.

Education and multilingualism is a course for students of Social education.

Students are expected to achieve the following competences:



-Become aware of the development of multilingualism in the world as the result of i) the spread of English; ii) language policies to promote minority languages; the mobility of the population



-Analyze multilingualism in school contexts as related to multicompetence and second/third language acquisition



-Develop critical awareness when analysing language policy plans in school settings.

There will be a final exam for students who do not complete the tasks and/or do not pEVALUATION



The evaluation of the course will be based on:



-20%. Attendance, participation and self-evaluation

-40%. Readings and forums

-40% Practical tasks and journals

Taking into account that the evalauation is based on tasks and other activities if you decide not to go for this call you have to tell your instructor before two thirds of the course are over (10 weeks).
