The scientific career of Iratxe Población Concejo started in the last year of her degree when she began working with a research internship at Tecnalia Research & Innovation, taking part in a project based on graphene to develop a new desalination technique known as capacitive deionization within the European HORIZON2020 Program. After that, she obtained the Master´s Degree in Landscape Management: Heritage, Territory and City, and during that academic year she continued to be part of the capacitive deionization project. Then, she found another job opportunity as an Environmental Manager in a small local company. One year later, she had the opportunity to return to the university to pursue a PhD, in the field of Terrestrial and Planetary Weathering Processes, that started in October 2021, and then she got a pre-doctoral research contract in March 2022. During the first year, she participated in research activities in the frame of the IBeA Research Group of Excellence, leaded by Prof. Juan Manuel Madariaga, co-Investigator of the SuperCam instrument, Mars2020 mission. That work has resulted in thirteen communications to national and international congresses, and she has been involved in the elaboration of four drafts as author and co-author, allowing her to grow day by day both professionally and personally, maintaining the enthusiasm and curiosity of the first day.
