Short biography

Jozefien Demeulenaere is a PhD student on the MiCos Project since September 2024. With a master’s degree in biochemistry and biotechnology, she developed a strong interest in soil complexity and its impact on plant health. As a PhD student, she now studies the effect of microplastic pollution on soil and plant health. Simultaneously, she is investigating the biofilm formation on plastic and searching for plastic-degrading microorganisms.
