Short biography
Margareta Krabbe is a senior lecturer with a long career at Uppsala University. With a PhD in microbiology/molecular biology (1997), followed by a postdoc at University of California Santa Barbara (1997-2000), she persued research at a position at Karolinska Institutet (2000-2001). As a senior researcher at Pyrosequencing/Biotage (2001-2004), she developed microbiology applications based on short range DNA sequences. Back at Uppsala University 2004 as a senior lecturer and project coordinator she has focused on development of biology education and internationalization. She was the programme coordinator of Molecular Biotechnology engineering (2006-2013) and subject coordinator in Biology (2013-2016). As the head of the Department Biology Education, she was responsible for coordination of BSc and MSc programmes in Biology, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics at Uppsala University (2013-2016). Krabbe has coordinated numerous projects in university networks such as EU-Bar-Net (Dual use and Ethics in Biotechnology), EIT Health and Enlight. Currently, she is teaching Sustainability didactics at Karlstad University as well as sustainability and biotechnology courses at Uppsala University. Other courses include research training, thesis projects and Life-long learning courses (2004-now).
List of selected ongoing projects
Krabbe is part of the local initiative “Plastic in Operational Waste” involving local industry, authorities, municipality and academia (Uppsala Klimatprotokoll). At Uppsala University she is coordinating the project “Plastic Challenge”, a project to reduce the amount plastic in laboratories.
