Gonzalo holds a BSc (USAL, 1996) and PhD (USAL, 2003) in Pharmacy, as well as a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Mathematics and Statistics (OU, 2014) and a Master in Statistical Techniques (USC, 2019). He has done research in ecology and evolution, and environmental epidemiology, areas in which he has planned, designed and conducted observational and intervention studies, managed databases and applied univariate and multivariate statistical analyses, both cross-sectional and longitudinal. He is the author or co-author of more than 60 book chapters and scientific articles, most of them in scientific journals indexed in JCR-Q1, and has supervised or co-directed ten master's theses and two doctoral theses. He has worked as a lecturer, researcher and biostatistician at IE University (Segovia), UPV/EHU (Leioa) and CIBERESP-ISCIII (Donostia-San Sebastián), and has been a researcher or visiting lecturer at institutions such as the University of California (Davis), the National Biodiversity Institute of South Africa (Cape Town) and the University of Florence. He is currently a Profesor Titular in the Faculty of Biology at the University of Salamanca, where he is responsible for teaching general biology, evolutionary biology and data analysis techniques in the Faculty of Biology, the Faculty of Science, and the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
