Ms. Itziar Aguado, born in Vitoria-Gasteiz (1978), hold a BA in Business Studies in the University of the Basque Country (Bilbao, 2000) and a Ph. Degree in Public Policies in the European Union managed by the Applied Economics V Department belong to the University of the Basque Country (Bilbao, 2005), achieving the Doctorate Extraordinary Prize on Social Sciences. She has specialized in Urban Studies and Local Sustainable Development.

She has hold diverse academic posts in the University of the Basque Country from 2001, first in the Faculty of Economic Sciences and later in the Faculty of Arts, in the Department of Prehistory, Geography and Archeology, where nowadays occupies a post of Aggregate Professor on the Area of Human Geography (Faculty of Arts, Vitoria Gasteiz). On summer of 2005, she was scholar visiting in the University of Reno (Nevada, USA). She has published more than forty research articles related to local sustainability and urban studies in Spanish and articles in English in Papers in Regional Science, European Urban & Regional Studies, Geoforum and Environment and Planning A.
