Research Collaborators

The EUROPAGUNE group also collaborates with several other research groups at both national and international levels, ranging from the joint organization of seminars to co-submitting research projects. Since its establishment in 2007, numerous research teams have shared this path with EUROPAGUNE; currently, the following maintain the closest working relationships.

Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law

The Max Planck Institute is a network of scientific research institutes based in Heidelberg, Germany. Within this network, the Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law is dedicated to research in international public law, European Union law, and comparative constitutional and administrative law.

Among other collaborations, the director of this group, researcher Armin von Bogdany, published the book 'El futuro de la Unión Europea. retos y desafíos' (IVAP-Max Planck Institut – Heidelberg,  2021;  978-84-7777-606-2) in collaboration with the members of EUROPAGUNE.

Centre de Documentation et de Recherches européennes (CDRE) de l'UPPA

The Centre de Documentation et de Recherches européennes (CDRE) is a research laboratory specialized in European and cross-border studies. It is attached to the 'Collège universitaire d’Études européennes et internationales' in Bayonne and operates under the recognition of the 'Université de Pau et des pays de l'Adour' (UPPA). Undoubtedly, the recognition this group receives from international organizations (such as the European Commission) and its academic prestige make it a benchmark for research in the field of European studies.

The relationship between EUROPAGUNE and this group has been particularly close since 2007: beyond collaborating on various publications, members of the CDRE are invited annually to the UIK (Summer Courses of the UPV/EHU) to share their expertise, with the same occurring for courses organized in Bayonne. Furthermore, from 2009 to 2011, both groups participated in the international project 'Europe and its borders – Crossed Visions' (Europa y sus fronteras – Visiones cruzadas).

Sant'Anna Legal Studies (STALS)

STALS (Sant'Anna Legal Studies) is a research-oriented project funded by the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna University, aimed at promoting the institution's internationalization policy. In this context, its research focuses on areas such as European politics, new constitutional experiences, judicial dialogue and cross-border law, and global legal pluralism.

Regarding its relationship with our group, several joint publications have been produced, primarily centered on the analysis of the European Union. Furthermore, the most notable demonstration of the collaboration between the two groups is the participation of STALS director, Giuseppe Martinico, alongside EUROPAGUNE’s lead researcher, in the organization of the UIK (Summer Courses) over the last two years (Ius Constitutionale Commune and conforming interpretation; Multilevel territorial governance in the execution of Next Generation EU funds).

Grup de Recerca en Dret Constitucional, Europeu i de la Integració Supranacional (UPF)

This research group operates within the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), primarily focusing its research on constitutionalism, with a particular emphasis on European integration and the relationship with European Union institutions. The group is a significant asset within a university already renowned for its international prestige, a reputation largely built upon the high caliber of the group's researchers.

The relationship between EUROPAGUNE and this group is continuous and highly enriching. In addition to collaborating on specific publications, they have conducted successive projects since 2012 aimed at investigating fundamental rights, specifically within the EU framework. Currently, both groups are collaborating, alongside other universities, on the project: 'The effective application of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union: respect for European principles and values (2021-2023).

Derecho Europeo e Integración Regional (IDEIR) - UCM

The IDEIR group, affiliated with the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), is distinguished by its consolidation of European law studies and the analysis of European development. This analysis is carried out through the lenses of Administrative, Constitutional, and International Public Law by several group members who are well-known within the academic community. Alongside this prominent European perspective, its origins are also linked to Ibero-American constitutional integration.

The relationship between EUROPAGUNE and IDEIR has been constant since both were established in the wake of the Treaty of Lisbon. Since then, they have participated together in various projects related to European integration, with a particular focus on the regional integration of the Spanish system within the EU framework.
