The Group for the study of the invasive fungal infection GEIFI (Grupo de Estudio de la Infección Fúngica Invasora) at the University of the Basque Country, was created by Dr. José Pontón, deceased in july 2010. Thanks to his enthusiasm and initiative, Dr. Pontón was able to involve in the group a good number of investigators dealing with the suydy of fungal infections, which are willing to continue his avenue of investigation.

GEIFI is devoted to the study of the invasive fungal infection, one of the main problems of the immunocompromised patients.
