Onintza Odriozola Irizar holds a degree in History (2003, University of Deusto) and a PhD in Sociology (2016, University of the Basque Country, UPV/EHU). She is a lecturer in the Department of Didactics of Social Sciences (UPV/EHU), in the Faculty of Education, Philosophy and Anthropology (HEFA). At the same time she is a teacher in the master Subiranotasuna Europako Herrietan (Sovereignty in the towns of Europe). Her main lines of research are oriented towards the analysis of nationalist movements, their discourse and their political practice, as well as the role played by language and culture in the construction of national identities. Today, she also addresses the issue of coeducation. She is a member of the Parte Hartuz consolidated research team. Her previous publications – in co-authorship – include the study The Importance of Historical Context: A New Discourse on the Nation in Basque Nationalism? (Nationalism and Ethnic Politics, 2017), The contribution of universitary system to the transformation of the Basque society (Agirre Lehendakari Center, Euskampus, and UPV/EHU, 2018) and Disaffection or repolitization? Narratives of the political learning of youth in the new Basque socio-political scene (Parte Hartuz, 2019).
