Amaia Garcia Azpuru holds a PhD from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), Cum Laude, in Development Studies. Associate Professor at the Cámara Bilbao University Business School from 2003 to 2019, she is currently working at the UPV/EHU as Assistant Professor since November 2020. Her teaching and research work covers various fields of economics and sociology, where knowledge on labor market, macro and microeconomics overlap with international migration flows (PhD specialty), always bearing in mind the gender perspective (current line of research), and international and development economics (undergraduate specialty), being a lecturer in multiple secondary and high school educational centers. She also holds a master's degree in e-Business from the University of Deusto and a master's degree in Globalization and Development from the UPV/EHU. Her lines of research focus on migratory movements in the CAE (Autonomous Community of the Basque Country), on the role played by the media with respect to migratory flows in Spain and in the CAE, as well as on the relevance of a coincidence in the influx of immigrants to the CAE. All this is reinforced with a gender perspective that she is currently working on in her articles. In addition, her research aims to cover the international framework through comparisons with regions in other countries.
