Carmen Gil Fombellida studied at Complutense University in Madrid, and was doctored in Philology in 2002. Her studies have been developed in the context of the study of theatrical phenomenon in the context of literary texts, and she has researched various historical scenes involving the Second Republic, the postwar theatre in Madrid, and the theatrical exile of the Civil War.



She has worked for fifteen years in the Donostian School of the Scene Arts as a lecturer in the Analysis of History, Theatre Theory, and Test Dramatics. Since 2004, she has been a member of the Hamaika Bide Cultural Society. She is also a co-founder of the research group around the postwar theatre in Madrid (CSIC) and around the theatrical exile out of 1939 (Deusto University).



She has coordinated collective works on cultural exile in the Civil War, and he has written about thirty publications, including six books these include: Rivas Cherif, Margarita Xirgu y el Teatro de la II República (2003); El teatro en Gipuzkoa (1970-1986) (2004)); Eduardo Ugarte. Por las rutas del teatro (2005); El Festival Cero: Crónica de un festival interrumpido (2005); José Martín Elizondo: Teatro combatiente (2009) and 1936ko euskal erbestealdiko antzerkia/El teatro en el exilio vasco de 1936 (2012).
