Patricia Abelairas Etxebarria is a professor in the Department of Applied Economics V of the Faculty of Economics of the University of the Basque Country -Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea.

She graduated in Economics in the branch of Macroeconomic Analysis-Monetary and Financial Economics in 2001 and she got her doctorate in 2008, doing the PhD in Public Policies in the European Union and reading the thesis entitled La Problemática de los Suelos Rústicos Periurbanos: Un Análisis de Precios Hedónico Espacial de la Reserva de la Biosfera de Urdaibai y Zonas Limítrofes.

She teaches in Basque and Spanish in the subjects of Introduction to Economics, both in Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. She also teaches in the subject of Computer Systems of Business Management.

She has participated in several research projects related to her main line of research, which has to do with the analysis of the prices of housing and land based on spatial econometric techniques. She has attended numerous national and international congresses with the results of these investigations. She is co-author of scientific articles published in international journals such as Land Use Policy. Her research is also carried out on the topic related to the application of social networks in the university classroom, having participated in several conferences in the area and publishing several articles in scientific journals.
