Ane Larrinaga Renteria (Mungia, 1960) has a degree in Sociology (Complutense University of Madrid) and in Information Sciences (University of the Basque Country, UPV/EHU) and a PhD in Sociology and Political Science (UPV/EHU). She received the First Koldo Mitxelena Prize for thesis in Basque Language in Social Sciences. She is currently a senior teacher in the Department of Sociology and Social Work of the UPV/EHU. She teaches the subjects of Political Sociology and Sociology of Education, on which she has published two manuals, and in which she applies an active methodology of problem-based learning.

She has taught in the following master and postgraduate courses: master in Euskarazko Komunikazioa eta Hizkuntza Gutxituak, postgraduate in Euskal Kulturgintzaren Transmisioa, master in Estudios Feministas y de Género, master in El Nacionalismo en el siglo XXI and master in Partipación y Desarrollo Comunitario. She has also been director of the postgraduate course Euskal Herriko Pentsamendu Kritikoa XX.-XXI. mendeetan.

She is part of the consolidated research group Parte Hartuz. Her lines of research have been developed mainly around the axes of ethnicity, identity, education and nationalism, on the one hand, and around political participation and gender, and gender violence, on the other. On these issues she has worked on research projects and research contracts with public and private administrations, and has published several books and more than thirty scientific articles.
