Biography

Javier Luis Barrera carried out his PhD studies under the supervision of Dr José Alemán Lara and Dr Rubén Mas Ballesté in Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and he defended his thesis in 2019. During this period, he participated in projects in different fields of catalysis:

Organocatalysis, Photocatalysis and catalysis with functionalized metal-organic framework (MOF), doing experimental work and, in some cases, performing DFT calculations. In 2015, he did a pre-doctoral internship with Dr Olga García Mancheño in Regensburg University, where he worked in oxidative C-H bond functionalization. Nowadays, he has a post-doctoral position in Universidad del País Vasco in Dr José Luis Vicario’s group, where he investigates enantioselective reactions catalysed by chiral phosphoric acids.
