I finished my Ph.D. (Industrial Chemistry) in 1991 at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), supported with Grants by the Basque Government and the Spanish Ministry for Education and Science. After that, I got a Permanent Position at the Department of Chemical Engineering, at the Faculty of Science and Technology (ZTF-FCT), UPV/EHU, where I have been teaching several subjects in different Degrees, Doctorates and Masters, including National and International Programs (TEMPUS). Among my teaching publications, I am co-author of the book "Cinética Química Aplicada" ("Applied Chemical Kinetics"), published by Síntesis.

Concerning research, I am a member of the Research Group Chemical Technologies for Environmental Sustainability (TQSA). Our work is focused on the development of heterogeneous catalysts designed to reduce environmental impact of industrial chemical processes and, in parallel, on environmental health, with a clearly applied view. Thus, I have worked, either as a researcher or leader researcher, in more than 70 research projects and contracts with Industries and Public Administrations, both national and international. The results of the research have been published in the best journals of the field (4 positive six-year CNEAI research periods evaluated), patents and industrial prototypes, and communicated in specialized, mostly international congresses.

Concerning university management, I am a member of the Economic Commission of the Faculty and the Faculty Board (ZTF-FCT), and the Academic Secretary of the Institute for Process Research and Development (IIDP) since 2009. Outside the university, I am the Secretary of the Basque Section (ST-PV) of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (RSEQ) since 2012, and the Dean of the Official Association of Chemists and Chemical Engineers of the Basque Country, Burgos and La Rioja since 2015.
