Marcello Loureiro has a special interest in topics related to the political culture of the Portuguese Ancien Régime, particularly the dynamics of the monarchical high councils and the use of lexicons that constitute a typical vocabulary of the second scholastic period. More recently, he has devoted himself to investigating not only the genealogy of the ideology of the right to resistance, but also the mobilization of certain structural categories within this ideology during moments of political and social upheaval, particularly in the states of Grão-Pará and Maranhão in the second half of the 17th century.
