Oscar Javier Castro holds a PhD in Social History from the University of São Paulo. His research focuses on the dissolution of the Iberian empires and the formation of new states and nations in the Ibero-American world during the Age of Revolutions (1770–1850). He also examines the formation of political identities, the impact of modern constitutionalism, and inter- and intra-state relations in emerging nation-states. To understand and explain these historical processes, he draws on the theoretical and empirical tools provided by Intellectual, Conceptual, and Constitutional History.
