A former assistant to Professor Juergen Habermas, Professor Honneth is of the most influential voices in social philosophy. His main body of work centres around questions of individual freedom and recognition. Among his many awards are the Ernst Bloch-Preis from the City of Ludwigshafen (Germany), the Bruno-Kreisky Prize from the Karl-Renner Stiftung in Vienna, and Ulysses Medal, University College Dublin’s highest honour, for his lifetime contribution to social philosophy and critical theory.
