28. Ethics in microfinance

Track_Gutierrez_28

Organizer: Jorge Gutiérrez Goiria, jorge.gutierrez@ehu.eus

Microfinance emerged as a means to fight against poverty, through the promotion of financial inclusion.

However, as the sector and Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) have been settling, debates are raised that cover issues as diverse as interest rates, the outreach and impact of these initiatives, their priorities and social performance, the dangers of over-indebtedness...

The track will address these and other aspects related to microfinance, focusing on the ethical issues they raise.
