Legitimacy is a crucial factor for the survival and success of organizations and influences social and economic exchange for organizations. Legitimate organizations can pursue their activities without being questioned and can avoid challenges from society. In order to be considered legitimated, an organization must adapt to the social norms and values of the social system in which they operate.

Nowadays, the importance of sustainability appears in every sector, which emphasized the relevance of introducing sustainability management as an element to gain legitimacy. Since stakeholders are willing to engage only with organizations considered as legitimated, introducing sustainability within their strategic axis will serve as a tool to maintain long-term relationships with their clients and improve que quality of the relationship.
