All students must take out a school insurance policy when enrolling on a course.
It is important to clarify that the information required to take out a school insurance policy is the student's Social Security affiliation number.

Since 14 July 2020, management of school health insurance schemes has been devolved to the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country (Department of Education) (Decree 89/2020, of 14 July).
The State Administration retains the authority to collect students’ contribution to school insurance, which is made upon enrolling and which the educational institution in question must continue to transfer to the Provincial Directorates of the General Treasury.
