Methodology

The Master¿s Degree Course is of the same duration as an academic course, i.e., 60 credits. The teaching period of this course is divided into three terms, during which students must obtain a minimum of 48 credits. The remaining 12 credits correspond to the Master¿s Degree Final Project. Students can do the Project during and after the teaching period and it must be presented at the end of the course. The Master¿s Programme includes a first batch of compulsory subjects, which will be taught during the first six weeks at all universities, whose function is to bring students¿ basic knowledge of Macro economy, Micro economy and Econometry up to the same level. For the remaining part of the first term and in the following two, there are a number of optional subjects to choose from and they are taught at one centre only. Students must choose a total of 36 credits. With a view to taking advantage of the complementary nature of the subjects offered at the three universities, students must study a minimum of 3 credits at each of the other participating universities outside the university of reference. Furthermore, in order to facilitate the choice of optional subjects on the lines of the students¿ professional preferences, there are six academic orientations: Industrial Economics, Game Theory and Environmental Economics, Policy Evaluation, Labour Economics, Economic Policy in the European Union and Quantitative Techniques in Economics.

Assessment

Evaluation of subjects generally consists of continuous evaluation through weekly/fortnightly exercises and a written test or the presentation of a final assignment containing practical and/or theoretical exercises on the theme included in the subject programme. At the end of the learning period, students must: - Know how to carry out tasks in private and public fields where highly qualified people are required in the field of economic analysis. - Be skilled in the use of sophisticated instruments of theoretical and quantitative analysis that they would know how to exploit in areas related with industrial organization, the labour market, transportation economics, European economy, the evaluation of public policies or environmental economics and natural resources economics. - Be able to handle Information and Communication Technologies as would a professional and a researcher in the field of economic analysis. - Participate and/or direct multidisciplinary work groups concerned with the evaluation of public policies and business strategy. - Learn independently and develop fresh knowledge and advanced and specialized techniques appropriate for carrying out research with academic rigour
