Methodology

The development model for the Master's degree is Dual, which implies working together to achieve a common goal between the three main entities: university, company and the student. Besides the university, the company also becomes an environment for learning and development of skills that is integrated into the training process in a coordinated and planned manner. The DUAL model assumes that the student will be linked to the company for a minimum of 50 % of the day during the 2 academic years that the master's degree lasts, receiving financial compensation. In addition, they will be accompanied throughout the course by a university tutor and a tutor from the company, with whom they will have regular follow-up meetings. The master's degree programme is designed in close collaboration with local companies that participate both in determining the content and in teaching the same. It will be developed at several locations: the Dual Engineering University School of IMH in Elgoibar, the Tecnalia facilities in the Miramón Technology Park in Donostia and Zamudio, IK4-IDEKO Technology Center in Elgoibar, and Vicomtech (Donostia). The training will be carried out in companies with whom the Dual Engineering University School of IMH systematically collaborates through agreements. The techniques used in the teaching of subjects combine master classes with practical classroom study and computer application. The educational programme involves teaching the contents through the Project-Based Learning methodology.

Assessment

The methods for the assessment of skills acquired in this Master's degree are quite varied. The contrasting assessment of the basic knowledge will be combined with the assessments based on problem situations and with practical study extended to the students. These can be individual assessments (to be carried out at specific and predetermined times) or group assessments (to be carried out over a period of time and with a joint presentation of the results). Details of the assessment methods applied to each subject are laid out in their specific documents.
