About the master
Language and communication technologies (foundational language models, neural machine translation, multilingual speech recognition and synthesis, multimodal dialogue systems, and semantic search) have become key components of our digital tools. These technologies are essential both for interpersonal communication and for human–machine interaction, and they are present in widely used applications such as virtual assistants, video conferencing platforms with automatic translation, and information retrieval systems.
This new context requires professionals with a combination of knowledge in computer science, linguistics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, language models, and speech processing.
The Master’s in Language Analysis and Processing / Hizkuntzaren Azterketa eta Prozesamendua (LAP/HAP) at the UPV/EHU was created precisely with this dual purpose: to train both advanced users and researchers/developers who will be able to lead the progress in language technologies.
This master’s program is supported by HiTZ, the Basque Center for Language Technology, an international leader in NLP research, which also holds the Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Language Technology.
The program provides direct access to the PhD program in Language Analysis and Processing.
