GENERAL MAGNETIC MEASUREMENT SERVICE OF THE UPV/EHU

Equipment

  1. Magnetic measurement platform with 14 T superconducting magnet cooled in He closed circuit (CFMS, Cryogenic Ltd).

    Characteristics:

    • Maximum ramp for magnetic field: 0.5 T/min.
    • Unlimited time temperature control between 2 and 325 K.
    • Vibrant sample magnetometry (VSM). Vibration frequency: 20 Hz. Sensitivity: 10-6 emu with pre-amplifier and average 5 sec.
    • AC susceptibility. Maximum extent of AC field: 20 Oe. Sensitivity to 1kHz: 10-7 emu.
    • DC magnetotransport (Resistivity and Hall Effect). Thermal stability: 0.005 K. Sensitivity: 15 nV.
  2. SQUID magnetometer (MPMS-7T, Quantum Design) with 7 T superconducting magnet.

    Characteristics:

    • Unlimited temperature control between 5 and 400 K, extended to 2 K with a maximum time of 2 h.
    • Measured in DC. Sensitivity: 10-8 emu.
    • Furnace for measurements between 300 K and 800 K.
    • Multi-functional sample holder for electrical measurements.
  3. Spin resonance spectrometer in band X (~9 GHz).

    Characteristics:

    • Temperature control via continuous flow cryostat between 4 and 300 K.
    • Temperature control via gas nitrogen between 300 and 500 K.
    • Maximum magnetic field: 1T
  4. Spin resonance spectrometer in bands Q, L and S (~30, 3 and 1 GHz).

    Characteristics:

    • Temperature control via continuous flow cryostat between 4 and 300 K.
    • Maximum magnetic field: 1.2 T.
  5. Faraday magnetometer (Manics) with conventional 1.8 T electromagnet.

    Characteristics:

    • Temperature control via furnace between 300 and 1000 K.
    • Sensitivity: 10^-5 emu wth a field of 1 T.
  6. PPMS magnetometer (Physical Property Measurement System) - Quantum Design Model 6000.

    Characteristics:

    • Maximum field: 9 T.
    • Temperature: up to 1000K.

    (This equipment is to be found in the Korta building, Gipuzkoa Campus).

  7. Magnetotransport measuring platform with electromagnet.

    Characteristics:

    • Maximum magnetic field: 1.3 T.<
    • Variable temperature control between 4 and 400 K. Greater stability than 5 mK in the entire range.
    • Sensitivity: 50 nV.
  8. Hystereis cycle tracer with Helmholtz coils at room temperature.

    Characteristics:

    • Maximum field: 40 mT.
    • Excitation frequency: DC-1kHz.
  9. Surface magnetization magnetometer using Kerr effect.

    Characteristics:

    • Maximum field: 0.4 T.
    • Excitation frequency: DC-100 Hz.
