Biography

René Herrera Diaz carried out his undergraduate studies at the University of Valladolid (Valladolid, Spain) obtaining his degree in Forestry Engineering (2009) with the research work "Study of the potential of limonene and pine oil as preservative agents of Pinus pinaster ait." After that, he obtained a Masters Degree in Renewable Materials Engineering at the University of the Basque Country (2012) with the final project "use of residual lignocellulosic biomass Olea europaea for extraction and use of lignin as a project made possible agent fungicide ". In 2013 he joined to the research group Bio-Refinery Process at the Polytechnic School of Donostia, where he is working as a researcher directed by Dr. Jalel Labidi.

Research

He has conducted his PhD thesis entitled ' Industrial wood modification by heat treatments' directed by Dr. Jalel Labidi and Dr. Rodrigo Llano-Ponte. His research focuses on the physical and chemical modification of wood in order to enhance its technical and commercial properties.
