Visit of Dr. František Olšavský
Oct 2025: Visit of Dr. František Olšavský (Comenius University Bratislava, Slovakia)
I'd wanted to visit the University of the Basque Country for a long time, and I finally got to do so from October 20 to 24, 2025. My gratitude goes to Professor Eva Velasco, Vice Dean of Institutional Policies, for coordinating my visit, and Professor Álvaro Fierro for welcome me among his students. visit to Sarriko on October 20 left me with a pleasant impression of the large campus and its proximity to the metro station, which makes commuting easier for teachers and students.
The During my stay, I met with Álvaro's colleagues and explored publishing articles in the Marketing Science & Inspirations journal. I also had the opportunity to tour the campuses in Sarriko and Elcano. My first lecture was designed for a group of American students and aimed to introduce the concept of consumer behavior. It was a small group of kids, so each could engage in the conversation. The next day, Erasmus+ mobility students attended a lecture. During my stays abroad, I am always fascinated by the diversity of students' views on the tasks at hand. The meeting focused on the perspectives of Slovak customers and their relationships with brands. The presentation was followed by cooperation in which students were invited to assess the viability of introducing the brand to their home market by sampling the traditional Slovak biscuit Horalky. I appreciate the lively discussion, stimulating ideas, and realistic recommendations from the students and participating teachers. On October 23, the third lecture was held in the historic auditorium of the Elcano campus, with Basque students in attendance. It was a genuinely unique setting. My initial fears about the language barrier dissipated fast. They were interested in the topic of Slovak consumers' brand preferences and worked in teams to evaluate the potential of introducing Slovak candies Doxy to the Basque market. I especially admire their passion, kindness, and dedication to complete the assignment.
The talks with the students made a very great effect on me, and I can say that it was a pleasure to visit the Basque UPV EHU. I believe that our cooperation will continue thanks to the ENLIGHT consortium, which includes both universities. Thank you, Eva and Alvaro.
