Erasmus Visit of Dr. Ioana Negru, Associate Professor of Economics, University ‘Lucian Blaga’ Sibiu, Romania, 12th-16th of May 2025

During 12th and 16th of May 2025, Dr. Ioana Negru, Associate Professor at University ‘Lucian Blaga’ of Sibiu, Romania and Associate Editor at Review of Political Economy (Springer) visited The Faculty of Economics and Business of Universidad del Pais Vasco, Bilbao, Spain.

During her stay, Dr. Ioana Negru met Professor Jesus Ferreiro Appariccio and discussed many economic issues, the state of economics in Spain and the possibility of collaborating amongst our universities, including submitting a Horizon grant with the focus on Productivity and Post-Keynesian Economics. Furthermore, Dr. Negru had a meeting with professor Leire San Jose and discussed the topic of ethics in finance and economics.

Dr. Negru had two face-to-face presentations, to both students and teachers and an online presentation to the Structuralist Macroeconomics Group Seminar in Latin America on AI and Economics. On Tuesday 13th of May, Dr. Negru delivered a talk on Ethics and Economics, highlighting the status of ethics within the discipline of economics and introducing to the audience two of her latest books on ethics: the Ethical Formation of Economists (Routledge 2019) and Teaching Ethics to Economists (Edward Elgar, 2023). On Thursday 15th of May, Dr. Negru presented to both staff and students ‘Artificial Intelligence in Economics’, focusing on the rules of researchers and examiners in using AI and reflecting on what is the impact of AI upon critical thinking skills in economics.
