Biography

Alanis Bré completed her technical degree in chemistry with the analytical and synthetic chemistry major at the IUT (university institute of technology) in Rennes I University, in France in 2022. She obtained in 2025 her master in Organic Chemistry and Polymer at the National school of Engineering in Caen, in France. She completed her master thesis within the laboratory LGP2 in Grenoble on the development of cellulose-based barrier and stretch materials to replace single-use plastics. During her studies, she takes part in different research projects, in particular on the synthesis of polysaccharides-based hydrogel from seaweed for food packaging at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur. In February 2026, she joined the Materials + Technologies (GMT) group as Predoctoral Researcher in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the University of the Basque Country (EHU). She is working on her doctoral thesis under the supervision of Dr. Oihana Gordobil and Dr. René Herrera, as part of the MULTICOAT project.

Research

Her research focus on the development of biobased Multi-resistant Coating for wood products protection against fire, solar radiation, water and microbial decay. Her research project is part of the MULTICOAT project, which tackles challenging concepts with innovative solutions to develop an efficient biobased multi-resistant coating formulation for wood protection.
