In 1999 she enrolled the ‘Materials + Technologies' Research Group and obtained in 2004 her PhD degree working on the synthesis and modification of thermosetting resins. Since 2003 she works as lecturer in the Chemical and Environmental Engineering Department, first as interim professor and since 2011 as Associate Professor, in both the Engineering Degree and the Research Master in Renewable Materials Engineering at the Polytechnic College of San Sebastian. Research Her research mainly focuses on the development of biopolymer based hydrogels, synthesis and chemical modification of (bio)polymers, as well as on bacterial cellulose functional derivatives and bionanocomposites. She has authored and co-authored more than 25 scientific articles and she participated in numerous research projects, 2 of them as Principal Researcher, and attended numerous international conferences.
