Iñigo Marauri Castillo has a phd in Journalism (2008) and a degree of Sciences of Information (1996) in the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). Lecturer since 2009, he teaches subjects related to journalistic writing, digital journalism and corporate communication. The last one, the journalistic coverage of dramatic events and the effect of Internet on journalism represent his main research fields. His work is reflected in more than 20 papers published in the most relevant journals of communication in Spain (EPI, Communication & Society, Revista Latina, Estudios del Mensaje Periodístico, Telos and Zer, among others). Some of these papers have been developed in six research projects funded in regional and national competitive calls. He is a member of the consolidated research group called Mediaiker, leaded by Full Professor Ignacio Armentia.

Besides his academic career, he worked for fifteen years as journalist in different media: reporter in the regional newspaper El Correo (1996-1999); reporter specialized in Education in the Basque section of the national newspaper El País (2001-2006); reporter, research editor and editor in chief in the journal about consumption Consumer Eroski and in its website (www.consumer.es) (2004-2010) and deputy director of the project of Basque television (EITB) called Consumidores (2010).
