Itsaso Barrainkua Aroztegi is an assistant professor at the University of the Basque Country. She began her professional career at the university in 2009, and for the previous three years worked in the international audit firm Deloitte.

Her teaching and research have been linked to the knowledge area of Financing and Accounting. Since 2009 she is a professor in the Department of Financial Economics I and has taught different subjects, such as Financial Accounting, Accounting Analysis, Consolidation of Financial Statements, Accounting and Taxation or Auditing. Among her teaching merits, it is worth mentioning her participation in two educational innovation projects and the good final assessment in the 2019 Dozentiaz Teaching Program.

Regarding research, in 2015 she defended her international thesis with the qualification of outstanding cum laude. In 2013, she spent three months as a research visitor at the University of Huddersfield. She has also participated in various research projects with the Spanish Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Instituto de Contabilidad y Auditoria de Cuentas.

Her scientific contributions on accounting and auditing have been published in scientific journals such as Accounting Auditing and Accountability Journal, Revista de Contabilidad, Revista Española de Financiación y Contabilidad, Managerial Auditing Journal, etc.
