She obtained her Ph.D. in Pharmacy from the UPV/EHU (Extraordinary Degree Award). In the year 2000, she was appointed assistant professor, during the years 2000-2005 combined the teaching activity with her professional activity in the Pharmaceutical Development Unity of the LEIA Foundation (nowadays Tecnalia Corporation). She is currently Associate Professor and she carries out teaching activities in the Pharmacy degree and in the Master in Pharmacology, Development, Evaluation and Rational Use of Medicines. She also participates and is member of the academic committee of the Doctoral Program in "Research and Evaluation of Drugs. Application of Pharmaceutical Technologies to the Development of Advances Therapies"

She belongs to the PharmaNanoGene Research Group dependent on the UPV/EHU (Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain). The main research lines are non-viral vectors for gene therapy, lipid nanoparticles for increasing the bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs, development of sustained-release formulations, and clinical pharmacokinetics. She has a strong experience in the development of non-viral vectors for gene therapy, being co-inventor of two international patents in this area. She has participated in 28 contracts with different pharmaceutical and biotechnological companies and 25 research projects. She is member of the European COST Action 17103 (Delivery of Antisense RNA Therapeutics). She has supervised 6 PhD Thesis and has published 65 papers in international journals.
